Meeting the Cincinatti Building, the Hare & Hounds & Vj Chromatouch
After a good long day of blog backlog yesterday, and more birthday sunshine, i had a slightly late start this morning, arriving just in time to join our event management group for our “group visit” to the Cincinatti Building.

The building is an interesting one, with its real 1950’s american style, and prime location and size. The buillding itself is one that has been bought by Urban Splash, and is on offer to creative groups and individuals who can utilise the space, until it gets turned into flats and hotels in two years time. A 200 seated auditorium, working canteen and conference room, with what seemed like hundreds of rooms, are all available to anyone who wants to do something to raise the buildings profile and communty interaction. The community in question is Castle Vale estate, which sits right opposite the Cincinatti building
After we got back and wrote our ideas for a funding project to use the building for, i went off to Sparkbrook for my meeting with Vj Chromatouch today, to discuss our forthcoming collaberations on the Drop Beats and Project X sets.
Always nice to see Leon, and he introduced me to some video clips, his new stray dog. It seems hes rather more busy than we anticipated, so will only be available the 2 weeks beforehand, so it looks like its going to be putting together the soundtrack for him to work from as opposed bouncing ideas back and forth. Either way i really hoping Leon can create a real strong narrative visually, as opposed to pretty visuals. While we have worked together on Project X, Peace Not War and Mr Elephant Events, I’ve only really ever caught glimpses of what he does as i’m always djing, but i know its going to be veerry special. Other vjs I’ve been impressed by are the M.A.S.H djs, and Keir and his mate at the last Jibbering event. Natural travelling and cultural imagery that you can connect with, and they way they used it really worked, and expressed, whether you caught bits or watched the whole lot. That mixed in with lots of clever video clips and samples is what i’m imagining, on top of all my accapellas, music and live stuff. We are going to trigger video/audio samples via a midi keyboard on top of our vjing and djing, and it should al culminate in a massive film like dj/vj performance
On my way home, i then got a call from Adam Regan asking if i wanted to go check out the Hare and Hounds to do a monthly night there. After a quick meeting with him at the bull, i hooked up with Pyn to go check it out. A great space with an already well setup rig, so am looking at collaberating with local businesses to deliver something that would really work, though probably will start in the new year, as there is so much on at the mo…The rest of the eve we were joined by our lovely housemate Fran, and later i learnt a russian song.
