Offsted Reports & Project X Meeting
The other half of the two days a week event management course i am currently on at the Bond in Digbeth, is a day with Les the security guard, who takes us through a series of workbooks all about stewarding. Not really my (or anyone else’s bag), but essential for the full qualification, and is fairly interesting, despite the subject matter.
I was therefore pleased to find that there were some music workshops from 3-5pm, from the providers of my new deal for musicians course - Armstrong Learning, who were having their annual general meeting there. However after 45 minutes of listening to some guy from stoke who was on a musical mission with his band, i realised at 4.50 that there wasn’t going to be any workshops, and that it had probably been suggested by the person who had just left, due to their current ofsted inspection! Funny how workshops come out when the word ofsted gets mentioned. …….I think we’ve got a one “workshop” now booked for the day of my last N.D.F.M review! Ah well their phone calls are useful.
After a quick phone chat with Nik, (who has just a launched his special fx online shop), and a bike ride home, i had a quick bite to eat and email catch up, and then it was back to Digbeth for the Project X Meeting. It was a very productive meeting, partly due to the small size of the group, and we discussed Sponsorship, Press, and who and what the musical components could, ending with a walk through of the current Hero’s Journey narrative, and some ideas about musical and visual integration. For my section i am working towards a set which incorporates all that has gone before in the first 4 hours, incorporating 4 tracks i am currently working on, and as many live musicians and visual elements as poss, in the last stage which is Freedom to Live, which is where the hero assimilates all that has gone before him, in the real reward/celebration of the Journey, (like in Star Wars when the Rebellion is victorious over the Empire, or in the Matrix where the humans are victorious over the machines.)
